Energy efficient central air conditioners

The latest models in air conditioners are energy efficient and consume 30% to 50% less energy to produce the same cooling effects as compared to older air conditioners of the ‘70s. Even if you have a central air conditioner that is just a decade old you may still be able to save 20 to 40 percent of the cost if you replace it with a modern unit. They also incorporate electrical heating options to eliminate the requirement of a separate indoor furnace.

From January 2006 new standards for residential central air conditioners have gone into effect, which stipulate that central air conditioners manufactured after January 26th, 2006 must conform to SEER 13 or higher which is 30% more efficient than the earlier SEER 10.

It’s important to realize that central air conditioning consumes adequate electricity since it’s in use for larger requirements round the clock. All steps must be taken to ensure that this quest to cooling doesn’t harm the environment.
